Company History

Rockwood Program Administrators is a full service Managing General Agency located in Claymont, DE. It began operations in July 1996 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of E.W. Blanch. Our original charter was to provide the parent company’s clients with access to a diverse array of insurance systems through which insurance products could be marketed. In 2000, our management team concluded a buy-out of the company.

We are fully licensed in all 50 states and have the capacity to handle P&C, Life, and A&H products. Rockwood also possesses the necessary authorities to place risks on both an admitted and surplus lines basis in all jurisdictions. We currently administer several national programs, including Life Agents E&O, P&C Agents E&O and Managing General Agency E&O. Rockwood’s on-going commitment to the independent agency system has allowed us to develop a network of over 10,000 sub-producers nationwide. Rockwood Specialty is our wholesale brokerage division. This business unit was established to assist retail agents find markets for unique or hard-to-place management liability risks. Rockwood Specialty maintains strong relationships with an array of A.M. Best “A” rated (or higher) insurance carrier groups and consists of a knowledgeable, dedicated and efficient team of insurance specialists.

Rockwood Insurance Solutions is uniquely positioned to help specialty insurance agencies, MGA’s and Program Administrators enhance their current businesses, create new operations or financially structure insurance facilities both domestically and internationally. The business unit specializes in bringing innovative thinking and counsel to insurance entities seeking to expand their business operations.

Rockwood’s senior management team was responsible for the creation and founding of Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA) in 2001. Over the past 11 years, TMPAA has emerged as the leading trade association for program business managers in the U.S. In 2012, TMPAA was acquired by Breckenridge Insurance Group.
