ROCKWOOD LAUNCHES PUBLIC SAFETY INSURANCE PRODUCT

CLAYMONT, Del., March xx, 2017 — A new group insurance product from Rockwood Programs, Inc. will address the unique liability exposures faced by public safety and security organizations at major hospitals, private colleges and universities, police departments and other law-enforcement-related organizations. The offering provides defense and indemnity coverage in the event a member of the group is the target of an administrative or criminal action.

“In today’s litigious society, allegations against individuals dedicated to providing a safe environment at educational or healthcare facilities are on the rise,” said Glenn Clark, president of Rockwood Programs and CPCU. “While safety professionals are trained to diffuse situations, sometimes more steps must be taken to protect the public’s safety. Our product addresses this underserved niche market to protect the individual who may be singled out as a result of their involvement in an event.”

The product offers legal protection for administrative or criminal actions brought against individuals within the covered group. The policy can be further enhanced to include coverage for civil actions (excess basis) and choice of legal counsel.

The product is offered on a group basis only, therefore the policy rate per person is much lower than if each member secured it on his own. It also includes coverages that would not be available on an individual basis. It is underwritten by an insurance carrier rated “A” (Excellent) by A.M. Best.

All claims are adjudicated by Wilson Elser, a nationally-recognized law firm with more than 30 years’ experience in professional liability litigation. Their team of legal experts will provide an advocacy defense for the insureds.
